Here I am

December is one of my favorite months of the year for many reasons. Apart from coolness of the season, Christmas [and all that comes with that]; it is my birth month. Over five decades ago, my mother chose to give birth to me. I’m not sure what her frame of mind was at that moment in time. It’s quite possible my conception was never planned or I was deemed a mistake. Unplanned we call it. Who knows!

My parents decided to go their separate ways when I was about two years old. Seemed they stayed together long enough to birth me. From my vantage point, they never seemed like a ‘good match’. Isn’t it amazing how God can create beauty from the most imperfect, broken and chaotic thing? In the midst of shattered dreams and the harsh realities of my parent’s life – I emerged. The only child between a flawed man and a broken woman. I celebrate today because they could have decided to abort me. I don’t think I came along at the most convenient time in their life. Nevertheless – here I am.

‘The last Few Decades’

In my imperfect world, I have never felt unloved or unwanted. Always cared for and admittedly blessed with some amazing people who came into my life – all for a reason. Traveled some rocky roads, cried some tears, stumbled at times, but I still I rise! So today I am here to encourage you to join me in celebrating your ‘here and now’. Regardless of our early beginnings – here you are…here I am! I am a firm believer that if you are breathing, you were meant to be here. There’s purpose to your existence – just like I discovered mine.

I plan to celebrate the entire December. So if you love December – join me! Find something to celebrate as you reflect on the past year. Sometimes if we pause long enough, we’ll see quite a bit to be thankful for. If you’re a December baby – Happy Birthday!πŸ’•βœ¨πŸŽˆπŸ’ƒ

Even when you are old, I will take care of you, even when you have gray hair, I will carry you. I made you and I will support you; I will carry you and rescue you.

Isaiah 46:4
