It’s Friday – the end of my work week. TGIF. I’m just glad it’s Friday. No plans for the weekend, no parties, no dates, nothing and I am OK. Today I took a closer look at my face and for the first time in awhile – I saw my age. π With age came this sweet place I’m at. Just at peace to do whatever makes me happy. This Friday I’ll eat some junk food and lay on my sofa. I will do absolutely nothing in my house. I’ll close my eyes and those clothes on the chaise in my bedroom will remain right there. I took a closer look and concluded that I deserve this.ππ I have decided to treasure the moments I’m blessed with as I move towards the inevitable. Fighting ‘age’ the best way I know how. Some days like today, I rest and reflect. Here’s the realization – We are all fighting a losing battle, aren’t we?ππ
This is what the wise King said :
In old age, your body no longer serves you so well.
Muscles slacken, grip weakens, joints stiffen.
The shades are pulled down on the world.
You canβt come and go at will. Things grind to a halt.
The hum of the household fades away.
You are wakened now by bird-song.
Hikes to the mountains are a thing of the past.
Even a stroll down the road has its terrors.
Your hair turns apple-blossom white,
Adorning a fragile and impotent matchstick body.
Yes, youβre well on your way to eternal rest,
While your friends make plans for your funeral. [Ecclesiastes 12:3-5 MSG]

A sobering thought:
Honor and enjoy your Creator while youβre still young,
Before the years take their toll and your vigor wanes,
Before your vision dims and the world blurs
And the winter years keep you close to the fire. [12:1-3 MSG]
So while I can, I will enjoy today doing something that I want to do. Here’s the conclusion of the whole matter:
Life, lovely while it lasts, is soon over.
Life as we know it, precious and beautiful, ends.
The body is put back in the same ground it came from.
The spirit returns to God, who first breathed it. [ 12:6-7]

This is so funny. I looked into my dresser mirror the other day and thought ‘you dont look so bad K’. Then I went over to the magnifying mirror and almost had a heart attack. I was horrified by the lines and wrinkles. I wondered who that was π€£π€£π€£.
It was a somber reality check. I’ve made the same decision. Just gonna embrace the changes to this earthly vessel while I wait on my new, glorious, immortal, heavenly body to come. That’s my comfort. Lol

We are sailing in the same boat sis! Kinda glad sometimes I wear corrective lens…just take them off when I don’t want to see.ππ

Whether we like it or not. I realized it when people stop saying ‘miss’ and started saying ‘ma’am’!ππ

Thanks Marcia for reminding me of facing the inevitable. There is absolutely nothing we can do the change it. I embrace it with joy and great expectations. Our hope is in God. Amen

Amen Madge! We don’t do this walk alone and that’s a beautiful thing.

Thanks a lot Marcia, now I feel like I have one foot in the grave π€£π€£. Seriously though, you’re right we are fighting a losing battle, just accepting it makes it go a whole little easier.
