There’s nothing about me that’s athletic; however, I’m a huge sports fan. From the Women’s World Cup Championship to the 2023 World Athletics Championships—I’ve been on a natural high for the last few weeks. I come from a small island in the Caribbean that boasts some of the best athletes in the world. I get a high from seeing underdogs win, guys and gals digging deep to find the best in themselves. I live for the stories of overcoming disappointments, beating the odds, rising above heart breaks and doing what the critics say can’t be done. I just love a good comeback story.

First time ever for this island nation of approximately 3 million people. The smallest of the countries in this World Cup. The fight in you speaks volume, way above the noise of the naysayers. Not everyone will support or believe in your dreams. Be the first to dare to rise to what God has called you to. Eventually, the world will see.

2015 she was the world champion in 100 M hurdles. She was never mentioned as a factor this year- often counted out. Eight years later at 30 years old, determination, grit, and purpose collided in her favor for a gold medal. I stand with those of you who have been told it’s too late. It’s never over until God puts the period there. Don’t mistake God’s comma for a period. Ride the waves – sometimes that’s what God uses to take you into destiny and purpose.

He was the 2nd youngest in the field, not as experienced as some of his counterparts. Didn’t have the best start but had a finish that’s worth talking about for years to come. He took home gold. Pay no attention to the distractions; stay in your lane and run your race. You may not start off as strong as those around you – often times your superpower is in your ability to stay with it and finish strong. God has given each of us a measure of faith and a measure of fight.
These are some of my lessons learned in the midst of my excitement. These athletes are true inspirations in their own rights. I record the events and also binge watch the posted videos online. I must say I lose a lot of sleep during this season but it’s worth every minute. As I am writing, there’s more excitement to come this afternoon and tomorrow. Whatever floats your boat, enjoy it! Grab hold of the teachable moments and get high on something that feeds your soul, mind and spirit.
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

Not really! I’m more of the pretty boy Ronaldo fan.🤣🤣 Seriously though, my high school was and still is a major force in school boy soccer. If it’s not World Cup, that’s what I follow.

You do know that Messi is now living in Miami and playing on the MLS team Inter Miami, right? Your pretty boy Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia after they showered a ton load of money on him.
