Yours or Mine

Recently I’ve had a few moments here in the Southeast when I felt like complaining about our 60 degree weather. Then a friend of mine shared this picture from her area in upstate New York. Have you ever thought that you were in an uncomfortable place until you heard about someone else’s problem? Would you like to switch places with me? Do you want your problems or mine?

The truth is you have little idea what my journey requires or what it will pan out to be in the future. Things are not always what they appear to be. One thing for sure I am graced for my journey – you are graced for yours. You are familiar with your pain, I am not. You can handle your successes, I may not be able to embrace yours with grace and wisdom. It’s very possible that it could destroy me. What I do know is I am wired for what’s mine, not for what’s yours. So when our eyes are tempted to wander, may we gain enough wisdom to stay where we are planted. We’ve been carefully crafted and designed for this! When thoughts tell you, you can’t – silence the chatter. There’s the Voice of Truth that says – you can!

I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances. I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need. I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] Philippians 4: 11-13
