Looking Back

The school year just ended, and I’d like to think the lessons learned went both ways. Wherever we are positioned, that’s usually the space where much of our refining takes place. The goal is not to destroy but to stretch us, often to the point of discomfort. Submitting to the process is necessary if we are to rise to the challenge and become a better person. My classroom, students and assignments are tools used frequently to chisel the jagged edges of the flawed me.

‘1995- NYC. Every class becomes part of the process.’

The journey has been wonderful and rewarding. I must admit it didn’t always feel good, but in the end, it was worth the walk. God invites us to come to Him blemished and limited. However, He loves us too much to leave us the way we are. Here are some meaningful lessons that came my way this year:

  • There’s untapped potential hidden beneath our fears and doubts.
  • There’s grace enough to take us through every challenge.
  • Capture the thought patterns that limit your growth.
  • Behind our wall of ‘NOs’ is a field of amazing opportunities.
  • There’s a healthy way to grieve and a time to move on. Find the balance.
  • Walk through pain and restoration – it’s OK to feel. Don’t take the easy way out.
  • Our tough days are not wasted moments. We eventually get the ‘why’.
  • I have deep roots– ready to be tapped into.

***Thanks for reading. Never let the lesson go to waste.
