Why Me?

That’s a common question we ask when hit with tough twists and turns in life. Why me? Here’s something to chew on – Why not you? Why not me? Often, I’ve read the Psalms and wondered what the writers were walking through when they wrote those life-changing words. Words that years later still comfort, inspire, encourage and challenge. Someone had to go through something to be able to pen those verses. Some of the greatest songs, books, or music written came from a place of pain, hurt, defeat and seeming insurmountable challenges. What if God is waiting to pour out of the you those unwritten pieces? Masterpieces that will impact lives for time and eternity.

Can He use your pain for His glory? Would we dare to trust Him to repurpose our mess for His use? In honor of those who have gone on before us -those who dared to stand in the midst of fiery trials and not bow – we rise to the challenge today. We do this not just for ourselves; we do this for those who are yearning to see what faith looks like. Weary souls who are tired of the chatter. Tired of the ‘tell’ with no ‘show’. Those who may never read a word of scripture but need to see that it’s more than words on a page. They long to see living epistles. It’s more than a few hallelujahs and amen: it’s a lifestyle of faith. Faith when I don’t understand, when nothing makes sense. It is a commitment to walk this out – to not fold because the storms rage. To stand and ‘having done all things, remain standing‘ (Ephesians 6:13). Why not me? Why not you?

  1. Wow! You always write a moving piece of literature. But this one has special meaning for me. I feel like I’ve been through things in the last three years beyond human endurance. Yet things I have written here would not have come out of me elsewise. Why not me? Indeed. Good question!
