August 1983, as a young girl I penned these words in little diary. These words bear testament to the complexity of the heart and it’s ability to misinform and mislead.
‘ It can’t be wrong to love him so much. I’ll never stop loving him!’ [And then I did]. ‘Lord show me the way. __________________ is the only guy I’ve ever loved. I can’t lose him now. [And He did].

And so you can. Your heart doesn’t always lead right. The heart is ‘deceitful above all things ….Who can know it? So penned the prophet in scriptures. And so the King prayed – ‘Create in me a clean heart , O God! Sometimes one may need to turn the volume down on the beating of the heart so we can pay attention to truth. Above the noise there is usually a still quiet voice that whispers – ‘This is the way, walk in it…’ [Isaiah 30:31]
You can rise from the ashes of the failure, disappointment, rejection or the loss that seem to want to define you. Disable the unmet and misplaced expectations that you have been rehearsing in your spirit. Pick up your shovel and begin to unearth the buried dreams and hopes of yesteryear. Let them live again! While you are at it – breathe again!
