Made For This

Daily writing prompt
What makes a teacher great?

Their classrooms come alive as passion and purpose collides. Minds are stimulated and challenged as hope burns bright. We give our students room to shine – to be the best version of themselves. Not that we are great but somewhere along the journey there’s the discovery that teaching is such an awesome privilege. One that we hold sacred and delicately. One word could light a fire or extinguish one. So we tread lightly and we use our words wisely.

‘We encourage – every day, every month, every year.’

We get to have front row seats to the realization of dreams and goals. The unattainable now becomes within reach. We watch the unfolding of new chapters and happily help to write on some of the pages. Often we find ourselves sitting with our students in their pain. Reminding them they can when the days get unbearable. They hurt, we hurt. There are times when we fight for the hidden potential we see – even when no one else believes, we believe.

‘One of my Welcome Signs’

Our roles may vary by the minute but we never stop being cheerleaders. As our doors open, so does our heart. There’s a seat next to our desk for a reason. There’s always one who needs to sit there from time to time. One who needs to be heard or seen. In every lifetime – we salute great teachers!
