When I saw this prompt, the lyrics of an old song (that I don’t know very well) popped in my mind. It reminds me that we don’t ‘arrive’ at the snap of a finger. We often need time to heal, to get it right, to move on, to gain clarity, and to ‘get it together’.
‘I’ll need time to get you off my mind
And I may sometimes bother you
Try to be in touch with you
Even ask too much of you from time to time’
In the same breath, we are cautioned about the brevity of life. That there is a time for everything. So let’s not miss the moments or waste the minutes on things that don’t matter, in light of eternity. So, while I may need time to ‘become’ – I pray for wisdom to maximize the moments and grab hold of the chances I’ve been given to come up higher. I ask that I’d understand the seasons – their beginning and their ending. That seasons will not morph into a lifetime of meaningless pursuits.
Teach us to keep account of our days so we may develop inner wisdom. Psalm 90:12 ISV
Now you have me trying to remember what song that is. Those words are vaguely familiar !
