Their Eyes

A student gave me this stone plaque for my birthday recently. She commented that when she saw it – she immediately saw me. Have you ever wondered how those in your circle view you? Especially those who rarely say much to you. Those who watch you from afar – a rare smile or wave. Does my life speak louder than my constant chatter? Can others see my heart by the way I invite them into my world? By the way I deal with challenges? By the way I extend grace to those who we deem undeserving? Who am I, in their eyes?

I don’t always feel like a giant slayer or a mountain mover. I wonder why she saw me in this little piece of art. We can never tell how the eyes of the beholders view us mere mortals. Maybe like me you pray that you’ll somehow reflect some aspects of your Father. Forever grateful that He hasn’t given up on this piece of clay- molding me into wonderful work of art.

‘He’s working on me, still
Changing me piece by piece, still
Making me better,…’

“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” [1 Sam 16:7]
