This week I made a joke with one of my students. She didn’t like it and proceeded to tell me so. I apologized. She then left my class. Not one of my finest moments. As I reflected on my response, I smiled. There was a time when I would have been moved from my place of peace. Probably, I would have been a bit hesitant to hear her out. My response was quite remarkable, if I may say so myself. I had no problem admitting my misstep [with no bitter taste in my mouth]. Neither did I feel defeated. I acknowledged my mistake, corrected it and moved on. I won over the old me – I saw growth.
Today, I appreciate the experience and what it revealed about me. I celebrate my small wins. I embrace the character refinement process. I am loving the new me. This is a little mid-week encouragement – Celebrate your small wins!!
Did you exercise a little more patience today? Cussed less? Smoked less? Got to work on time? Withhold your usual scathing remarks? Listened a bit more? Forgave someone? Walked away from that piece of chocolate cake at mid-night? I don’t what you are ‘working on’. Or, what you want to see change in you. Have you seen a ‘small cloud’? The evidence of rain – the evidence of some change in the your current atmosphere.
Show yourself some extra grace. Recognize the growth- the change. Remember where you are coming from and look at where you are today. Exhale and celebrate the new you! Sometimes, God just wants the willingness to change. He’ll complete the good work in you – the good work in me. So, celebrate your wins and shake off that oppressive sense of defeat that comes to daily remind us of our imperfections. The truth is, that’s the reason my Father stays close to me – He knows I’m a mess! So take your mess today and make it into a message. Someone is waiting to be encouraged.
***My student sent me a message – all’s well. We move forward!๐๐
** Thanks for stopping by. I celebrate with you. ‘Like’ and comment.
I have been going to a rehab gym to assist my walking. I had been getting frustrated and told the physio I wasn’t getting anywhere.
Now to be gracious to myself and recognise growth – Today I had great success with one of the exercises for the very first time.

I like this concept…the evidence of a small cloud on the horizon! It’s the little things that add up to big things over time.

Yes, most of us get older and wiser, thank God. Good for you, as long you know you handled it well, thatโs all you can do.

This is beautiful story; we do need to show ourselves grace. But what I liked about your story is that you saw the wrong and you fixed it. We do have to learn to celebrate those little wins in life. For they are just important as big wins.
