Have you ever had to do a hard thing, but knew it was the right thing? There was no cutting corners, no short cuts. Life beckons us at times to take the path of greatest resistance – the long road home. Sometimes we have to do it afraid until we are as bold as a lion.
Sometimes we have to close a chapter or turn a new page. It may take every ounce of strength in us not to turn and run. Run away or run back towards the very place we were called to leave. I wrote these words about 25 years ago. I had to make a decision I considered difficult at the time. In retrospect, it wasn’t as hard as I initially thought it would be. That prepared me for some very tough choices I was called to make later in life.
I’ve since learned, the long road is necessary to build character and inner strength. It builds up my inner man. I’ve come to understand the value of delayed gratification and how to say no to those questionable desires. I’ve been trained how to ‘ walk with the footmen’ , so I could eventually ‘run with the horsemen’. When challenged to do the right thing – do the right thing. Take the long road home. One day at a time, one step at a time – one moment at a time. Just breathe…

You are so right. Sometimes we think some decisions are so very hard to make… until we take that first step… and then the other. And when it is all done we realize that it wasn’t that hard after all… and we wonder why we didnt make it sooner. Lol

I had to take the bull by the horn recently and put my foot down about something. I found out Luke you did that the actual ‘doing’ was not as hard as thought it would be. God gives us all the grace, strength and courage that we need.
