The Anchor Holds

‘ We Don’t Have to Fall Apart’

This is a reminder and an encouragement for those readers who feel like they are drowning under the weight of their current circumstances. It seems like ‘every thing that could go wrong, has gone wrong’. You feel like you are in the ‘perfect storm’. Your vision is blurred and there seem to be no way out. A heavy weight of depression or hopelessness may have pervaded your atmosphere. I hear you. I feel you. This is not something I heard about. This is what I know – the One who breathed life into you is waiting to hold you. To keep you afloat.

Your ship may be tottered and torn. It may even be destroyed. Here’s some encouraging words that were given to a group of people caught up in a storm: ‘But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down’.[ Acts 27:22] Life happens. Every one of us will face a storm at some point in life. This may just be your season – tomorrow may be mine. There is an anchor that holds secure – I call Him Jesus. Some call Him Messiah. Others call Him Lord. When I whisper or shout that name – I am held. When I don’t have the strength to hold on , He holds me. You don’t have to fall apart.

A quick note- sometimes the storms that appear batter to us, are by design. There are times when the old has to be washed away before the new can come to life. The old fears, debilitating mind-sets, toxic patterns and generational trauma. Sometimes when your world appears to be falling apart – it may actually be ‘falling into place’. So hang on, it may be a bumpy ride. When your anchor holds secure, you will not go under.

“Sorrows multiplying,
Prospects overcast,
Weeping, groaning, sighing,
Still I’m anchored fast.

While the tempest rages,
To the Rock of Ages,
I am anchored fast.”
[William P. Breed, 1869]
