It’s mid-week and mid-year. I sense mental fatigue and it’s time to rest, replenish, and restore. These are the moments when writing can become difficult. We reach deep, come up empty and flirt with the temptation to quit. Life’s like that. When we come face to face with our limitations, fighting is sometimes the last thing we want to do. So, we walk away—away from what or who we love. Walk away from our dreams or desires. We bury or suffocate our dreams. For my fellow writers/bloggers — I get it. The truth is, it’s hard to run on empty. When those moments of ’emptiness’ present themselves, we dig deep and go back to our ‘why’. Why do I write? Some days we need to be reminded that someone might need to hear what we have to say. Our words —our voice matters.

Today I glanced at this comment made awhile back by one of my readers. Something came alive in me—even in my state of weariness. So, I continue to write. Can I encourage my weary friends? You cannot afford to quit. To dim your shine. Step back for a minute and breathe. Go back and read some of what you wrote on those ‘better’ days. Open your memorial closet and rehearse your moments of grace and favor. Recount the times someone was inspired by your words. Remember someone still needs to hear what you have to say. Again, your words matter —your voice matters. Come back to where you belong. Never leave your seat at the table empty. Come back to purpose.
*** Thanks for reading. Rest if you must but never quit.
Thanx for the pep talk. I really needed it! I’ve published 26 posts in my first month here and have 6 visitors so far. 6!! This is like pulling teeth. It doesn’t seem like anyone’s interested in what I have to say at all. And I’m tired; tired of living, tired of trying… Just plain tired…

Keep at it! It takes time to get people interested in what you have to say. Your voice matters. Remember why you write in the first place.

New follower here, just found this post and felt I connected with it. When I started my blog I was just writing to get my thoughts out of my head and onto “paper” but found that maybe I could relate to others as well. Some days you may feel like you have nothing to say but other people might feel exactly the same way as well! It’s just all from your experience.

Absolutely! We write anyway–I find I do it more for me. Often times I have to go back to my ‘why’ – this spurs me on when I feel like closing this chapter. Glad we connected!

Well said Marcia! Going back to the “why” is so important as a regular check-in for anything we give our time to.

For real! So often we need to go there just to keep the fire ablaze.

Never doubt that your words matter or that they have an effect. There is death and life in the power of the tongue…(and these days, in the power of the pen, keyboard)
I came across this poem by an anonymous author years ago and I have to revisit it so very often.
A careless word may kindle strife
A cruel word may wreck a life
A timely word may lower stress
A loving word may heal and bless
Continue to heal and bless🙂
