Crack Me Up

Daily writing prompt
What makes you laugh?

Live. Laugh. Love. Did you have one of that wall plaque? I did. For some reason we needed that reminder. Life can get serious pretty fast, sucking the joy out of every moment. Laughter adds music and life to living. From childhood to adulthood, I have found every reason to laugh. That’s just who I am. So what makes me laugh? The list is long.

‘School Trips’

As a mom – children. Have you ever gone on school trips? I was blessed to do quite a few. That’s where you see a different version of your child – an hilarious side. As a girl – those riotous girlfriends. The ones who make you pee in your pants. If you’ve found love, you know those secret moments. The kind of laughter that makes you roll on the floor. Over the years as an educator, I think I missed the opportunity to write a book, ‘ You can’t Make Up These Things’. The things students say are beyond hysterical. Being over fifty, I have learned to keep my bladder empty. Then there’s me! To keep your BP and stress level at healthy low, it’s a must to practice the art of laughing at yourself. Yes, I crack me up quite often!

I’ll end with this: ‘When I consider who I am, it makes me laugh to think that the God of this universe would take the time to love me. And to see that even at my worst He loves me still. He pursued me relentlessly when I ignored Him. Extended grace to me when I was most undeserved. Walked with me through dark places. Held me when no one else would. Heard the cry of my broken heart. Led me away from that which would have destroyed me. Forgave me for the millionth time. Stayed when He could have walked away from my mess. Answered prayers I didn’t even know I should pray. Saw me when no one else did. What a love! This truly cracks me up.

  1. Did I know you’d been a teacher R-H? Me too–26 years, mostly in 4th grade. I did take time to write down a few funny events. One example: Ben had a lisp. When he told me the following I had to fight hard to hold in the laughter. Read this with a lisp and I think you’ll understand! “I bought my mom some honeysuckle room spray for her birthday, but it makes the cat sneeze!” (See what I mean?!)
