The Truth I Own

Since the advent of social media and its likes, I’ve noticed that so many voices are jockeying for a space in our heads. ‘I’m living my truth’ is now a common phrase that repeatedly litters the airwaves and print alike. We hear of alternative facts, normative truth, objective truth and subjective truth. Have you ever wandered what qualifies as ‘truth’? How often have we owned and embraced a narrative only to discover that all along we were living a lie?

‘The truth that will always rise’

I find that there is One whose ‘truth’ remains constant throughout the ages. I think my safety lies in looking to His version of truth. Truthfully, it has never failed me. When the noise around seeks to drown out God’s truth, that’s when I find calm and quiet in His presence. Oftentimes it’s in the silence that I hear the still small of voice of truth that guides me moment by moment. I don’t know what you own as truth – be careful that it doesn’t leave you hanging in the end. Make sure the voice you are listening to tells the whole story – ‘the truth and nothing but the truth’.

Recently the lyrics of ‘The Truth’ by Megan Woods caught my attention. I borrowed some her words that spoke to me:

🎶“When I feel like there’s so much noise
Livin’ rent-free in my head
Heaven finds me in a still small voice
And it sounds like grace instead”
🎶

**Thanks for reading. May God’s truth give you a safe place to breathe.
