Give Me Both

Daily writing prompt
Beach or mountains? Which do you prefer? Why?

Being an island girl, I was blessed to have experienced and embraced both the beach and the mountains. I choose not to choose between the two. They both take me to beautiful places in body, mind and heart.

‘ Views from one of my old high school block.’

Blessed to have attended a high school with a mountain view, I fell in love with the landscape. I remember days sitting in my classroom staring peacefully at the rolling hills. It had a way of stimulating my creative juices – removing much of the clutter from my head space. As a teenager, I climbed to the highest peak in my native country – the Blue Mountains. There’s something about the air up there; very lung friendly. I am sure that people who live in the mountains have one up on us with air quality. Give me the mountain when my mind gets tangled in a web.

‘My Calm’

If you’ve never seen a sunset or sunrise at the beach – put it on your bucket list! Don’t leave earth without that experience. The sounds, the splash of color, the smells, the feel of sand between your toes – this is a gift from God beautifully wrapped. There is always a calm that bathes over my mind and spirit when I watch the waves doing their dance. Give me the beach, when life overwhelms and leaves me drained.

The mountains and the oceans were gifted to us. Amidst the hurry and flurry, the constant demands of life; let’s not overlook the splendor of these breath-taking gifts.

“In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him.
The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. “
[Psalm 95:4,5]
