Apart from my family – most of my days are spent with my students. Their stories fill my days. Last year I asked two of my classes to participate in an activity that would cause them to pause and think for a minute: ‘If your life was movie, what would the title be?‘ For some it was a fun thing to do; others found it uncomfortable as it required them to unearth buried memories they’d rather forget. I saw pain on some faces – I opted to sit with them in the pain. Eventually, they were all able to come up with a title that made sense to them. In the end it was therapeutic on many levels. The slide above captures some of their creations. I am privileged and honored to spend most of my days with some amazing humans in our happy place called my classroom.
I pray as we continue to add pages to each chapter of our own story, may we be intentional about who we give a seat at our table. We may not be able to change the beginning chapters, but we can certainly have a say in how the story ends. Who we choose to walk with each day often impacts our life outcomes. Choose well and walk well.
‘Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.’ [Proverbs 13:20]
