Don’t Wait

“Walk into the promise of a brighter day.’

As we gladly sway into a long Labor Day weekend, take a moment to enjoy the landscape of your current season. It may be one of calm or quite tumultuous. There might be an air of uncertainty plaguing you on many levels. Or, it could be one of promise fulfilled. Yours may be a season filled with more questions than answers. Whatever it looks like, take a minute to appreciate the things that are going right. There’s an old hymn we used to sing back in the day; the chorus challenged us to change our perspective:

‘Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.’

Recently I heard a comment that stuck with me. ‘ It’s not so much that life is short, we just take too long to start living’. Live in the moment. Let’s not wait until…

Until-

  • The kids are grown
  • We pay off the car/house
  • We lose the weight
  • We retire
  • Have enough in the retirement fund or the savings account
  • We find that special one

The truth is, ‘until’ may never come – but we have today. So, let’s not wait too late to start living.
