I Cry

Some months ago this was my ‘current situation’. I penned these words as a way to help release the ache in my heart. Ever so often I cry. Life is hard. There’s much pain all around. Scriptures remind us that God ‘bottles’ the tears of His children. My mind’s eyes sees a loving Father catching my tears as they fall. I’d like to think our tears matter. They don’t go unnoticed. Even if they blind my eyes momentarily or blur my vision, I imagine He waits until I’m settled. Waits until I begin see that I am not alone and I am seen. I am understood.

Maybe this is your present reality. Even at your best, your emotions are raw and the tears flow:

‘We Cry’

It is my belief that ‘tears are a language God understands’. Jesus wept as He watched humanity hurt and weep – He was touched by their current state. Here’s a thought, ‘We don’t need to be stronger than God. He’s strong enough.’ Be encouraged by some of my favorite songs:

… It’s ok to cry
It’s ok to fall apart
You don’t have to try
To be strong when you are not
And it may take sometime to make sense of all your thoughts
But don’t ever fight your tears
‘Cause there is freedom in every drop
Sometimes the only way to heal a broken heart is when we fall apart
[‘When We Fall Apart’ – Ryan Stevenson]

Who am I that the King of the world
Would give one single thought about my broken heart?
Who am I that the God of all grace
Wipes the tears from my face and says, “Come as you are”
[‘Me On Your Mind’- Matthew West]

** Thanks for reading – It’s OK to cry. It’s OK to fall apart.
