I’d Rather

Woke up today to the sound of raindrops pitter-pattering outside. Glanced at the temperature, it was just about 64 degrees. The forecast says cloudy and I barely see the sun shining through. I am on Thanksgiving break and have no intention of doing much. Grateful to be alive and kicking at such a time like this. Sometime later, I glanced at an old picture on mine. I couldn’t help feeling, I’d rather be there:

” A Simpler Time’

The sweet island vibe
The younger version of a now calmer me
Basking in heaven here on earth
Warm sun rays hover like a halo
My shadow quietly looks on
I’d rather be with you

Memories draw me back
To a simpler place and time
There was a desire for less
You were enough
This was filling- nothing lacking
You were all I yearned for

Today a wiser me emerged
Chapters later- new pages added
The landscape looks different
Passions redirected
Much has changed
Still – I’d rather be with you

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I pray you are with the one(s) you want to be with. Take a moment today glance around you and breathe a prayer of gratitude for who you still have with you. For the ones who are no longer there – remember what they added in times past. Cherish the memories. If they took something, remember God only needed what was left to bless you. You didn’t need what you lost. If you learned a valuable lesson, even the loss was not a waste. Let’s do a gratitude shift today. I’d rather be thankful!

This is my Thanksgiving blessing to You and yours:

“May the Lord bless you
    and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you
    and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you His favor
    and give you His peace.’

Numbers 6:24-26
