This marks the last few days of May. As we move into the coming months, many of us have to make some major decisions. In my previous post, I mentioned that the end of the school year can signify the end of a season and the beginning of another. For some it breeds excitement, others not so much. Many of us face crossroads –to be or not to be, to do or not to do. There are voices to contend with, some louder than others. Many might support, some won’t. It is what it is. Quite often those you expect to buy into in your dreams and visions won’t believe enough to ride it out with you.
Something I read recently struck a chord in my soul. In Luke 24, the scriptures describe the story of some women who visited the tomb of Jesus. They had an experience, a divine encounter that forever changed their lives. The problem was when they went back and told the others, most did not believe them. Actually, the scriptures recorded: “ But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. [ vs 11].” Part of maturing is realizing that not everyone will understand or believe in your dreams. You need to be okay with that. The more seasoned you get, the more you realize that validation must begin within. While we welcome the supporting voices, I find it is more important what I believe about me and what I tell myself.

I choose to agree with what God says about me. This is definitely much easier said than done. We, by nature, crave the love and support of others. Sometimes people fall short. I am sure if you’ve lived long enough, you’ve noticed that some people are like leaves on a tree. When the wind blows or there’s a shaking — they fall away. That’s okay. I often believe that this is by divine design. We are warned not ‘to make human flesh our strength’ [ Jeremiah 17:5]. It might fail us. The truth is, if we are not careful, we will fail ourselves. Our own voices can start to echo unbelief or despair. There has to be something bigger that drives us. It is not unusual for our God-given dreams to bigger than us. This is so we will lean on the big God who’s able to sustain and guide us into bringing them into fruition.
So, this may be your season — your moment to take that leap of faith. You saw, you heard, you believe. Now it’s time to ‘jump’! Don’t forget, it was you who got the dream or the vision. No one else did. It is your responsibility to nurture and guard it. If no else believes, no one else goes with you – then go with God. He has promised not to leave you hanging.
