I started journaling as a teenager. Today ever so often I go back to revisit some of the untold stories of my younger years. Some of these pages date back to the ‘80s and 90s. Those were searching years- trying to ‘find’ me and discovering who I was created to be. These stories remind me of the grace, mercy and favor that has been extended to me through the years. I see how things do have a way of working out. The little diaries are tattered and faded but they contain my voice, my heart, my pain and my joys.

I may not use them daily but I certainly use these untold stories daily in my classroom. My millennials and Gen Zs need to hear the stories of the battles we’ve won, those we lost and the lessons learned. Our stories matter. Our voices matter.
Tattered and discolored
Faded and fragile
Holding untold stories
Tales of joy and sadness
Defeat and victory
You captured my greatest moments
Gave an ear to my pain and jumbled mess
You were always there
Waiting – never judging
Lending your pages
Giving me space to be me
Watching as the plot unfolds
To the story of my life
“Things that we have heard and known about, things that our parents have told us. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and His might, and the wonders that He has done.” [ Psalm 78:3-4]
That’s very cool that you still have these. I journaled a great deal as a child, but I do not have any of my old journals.

An act of God I tell you, as I’ve lived in quite a few places.😊😊

That is great that you saved all your journals. I wish I did the same. Because it’s good to look back on past events in your life.

It sure is. We tend to be forgetful and often need to be reminded of where He took us from and what He took us thru.

Wish I had the dedication and discipline to keep a journal. Would be cool to be able to look back and see how I thought and felt as a teenager.
