The Sun Rises on Her

So often women [and men] struggle with their sense of worth and value. Words spoken and received have a way of ‘manipulating’ our thought patterns for good or bad. I suppose many of us have discovered that it’s not necessarily what others think about us that truly matters, it’s what we believe about ourselves. This can remain a source of struggle for many who’ve bought into a narrative that diminishes and depreciates their sense of self.

Recently I was privileged to join some sisters in worship and fellowship as we watched the sunrise over the waters. I dare say it is always refreshing to find a home with those who have discovered the Voice that speaks of our eternal worth and value. The Voice that reminds us we matter in His eyes. The Son of God has shone His light on His daughters as He calls and equips us to invade the dark places in our world. As we journey, we bring His light with us. We aim to be light-bearers even as we walk through our own imperfections.

We carry with us grace to extend to the less than perfect. Speaking as He inspires, our words pour oil on the wounded and scarred hearts. Out of the overflow of Christ’s love, we love even when it’s hard. Because we’ve been held so many times, we understand the need to come alongside our fallen, weary, and tired sisters. We don’t leave our wounded behind. We’ve been privileged to be Christ’s hands extended.

We found ourselves when we found Him. The amazing Father who pursues us relentlessly – loving us back to wholeness. This is the love that won’t let go. We are indeed a ‘ big deal’ to Him – the apple of our Father’s eye. He thought we were worth dying for and then put that plan in motion. What love!

She Shines

She chooses not to dim her shine Reflecting the beauty of a transformed heart in Christ
Her light is not her own- He shines through her
Her worth is in the One who values her
God gave heaven’s best for her She is seen and heard She matters

He found her in her wandering
Rescued her from herself
From those who devalued her
Questioned her worth
When purpose and time collided –
She found her place –
She shines from that place
