Reflection of Me

It is my belief that plants were gifted to us as message of love from God. When you don’t know what to get me – get me plants. These were all gifted to me at some point, primarily by my students. It tells me that they hear me.

This morning I glanced at the ‘lady’ – so peaceful and well made up. Her headband, beautifully painted lips and nails reflect her unique sense of style. My student – Michie- thoughtfully chose this gift. This is indeed a true reflection of me in many ways – especially the sense of ‘peace’ that she exudes.

As we choose to give this season, let’s make thoughtfulness normal. By now, we should have discovered that it’s not the price tag that matters. So many of us have our homes cluttered with things given to us that do not reflect us in any way. I thought about this recently. A coworker of mine sat beside me at our Christmas luncheon; I noticed a gift he had gotten. I knew it just wasn’t ‘him’ in any way. I leaned over and asked if he wanted to exchange, he excitedly said yes with a wide smile of appreciation. He got mine and I took his. It was a gift suited for the classroom – he wasn’t part of the teaching staff. Someone did the same for me the week before at an ornament exchange party. Thoughtfulness does look good on us. If we choose to give, it helps to take a minute to do a little research. Be the thoughtful giver this season!

‘Dear friend – You thought of me’

They saw you
Heard you
Touched and uplifted
Encouraged and supported
They gave a minute
A smile
A hand
Gave a ride
A hug
A meal
Gave a dollar
Gave a day
Left a flower
Or a random plant
Wingless angels
God’s messengers
Of peace and love

  1. This is beautiful. I also love plants. My kids get them for me and it lets me know they hear me, too. For Christmas, they got me a crocheted succulent. My son said “because you like plants, and so it will never die.”🥹
