Be The One

Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you. And listen in such a way that others love to speak to you ( Zig Ziglar).

In this world of chaos, pain, and darkness we can choose to be the difference maker in our sphere of influence. Sometime in the 90s, there was a popular song our children used to sing at summer camps and VBS. It speaks of being a light where ever you plant us.

🎶Jesus bids us shine,
With a clear, pure light,
Like a little candle burning in the night;
In this world of darkness, we must shine,
You in your small corner,
And I in mine.
🎶

Let’s be intentional about being that one today. That one who applies balm to the wounded and calm to the chaos in our space. That one who gives the extra grace often required by the perfectly imperfect ones we engage along the way. Be the one who listens a little more – talks a little less. Maybe we can spread a little kindness while we are at it. The benefits go beyond the social. We feel better, think better, and connect better. If ever there is a way to reflect godliness, kindness is one sure way to start.

‘Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.’ (Proverbs 16:24)

  1. Wise advice, RH! In one concise paragraph you’ve brought us back to the center motivation for all we do: love. The way to defeat evil is with good (Romans 12:21). May we prayerfully consider what that loving good might be in the circle of influence where God has placed each of us.
