This morning I went walking along my usual route. I love walking. As I breathed in the fresh morning air, I reflected on the number of times I’d walked that road- worried. Days when there were more questions than answers. Slowly I began to realize, everything that held me captive those days were no longer part of my present. It all worked out – somewhere, somehow.
This season I’m working on worrying less. Indeed, praying for wisdom to discern between the things I can change and those I can’t. I’ve learned how to sleep and I do that well. In the classroom of life, lessons are not always easy. Often extra practice is required. Problems are the worksheets frequently used to test our mastery of those needed life skills. I’ve said this numerous times – ‘there are no social promotions in His class.’ God knows I’m working on trusting His hand – working on worrying less.
Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. (Philippians 4:6-7 MSG)
