Recently I was with a friend when someone called her and said, “ I need to confess my sins.” She proceeded to share her perceived shortcomings. After their conversation, my friend walked over to me and confessed hers. Earlier on that morning I had unburdened my heart of mine. After receiving a few phone calls from someone who tried my patience a number of times that morning — my response became less than perfect. I had to confess my sins. This morning I reflected on the beauty of having such a safe space. A place to lighten the load. Confess your faults one to another and pray for one another, that you may be healed…[ James 5:16]. Healing comes in many forms and is necessary for us to be whole. Ultimate forgiveness comes from God and He is our primary ‘secret place of safety’ — where we run to find shelter. He however, gives us each other ; we call this iron sharpening iron as we bear each other’s burden. I love the practical ways we get to walk out our faith within the body of Christ.

It’s more than hallelujahs and amens. It’s going in the trenches with others when life deals them some hard blows. Offering a listening ear even when being there costs you. I have been blessed to have these burden bearers in my life. My hope is that I have been a shelter for someone, somewhere too. My prayer is that you too have one or two burden bearers. Like me, probably your sins have been many too.
***Thanks for reading— be someone’s safe place today. Find one yourself too.
I am blessed to have a few burden bearers in my life, and I try to be one when others need. Good morning and may God bless you!❤️🙏🏼

God bless you too Melissa! Isn’t it comforting to know we have those who are there through thick and thin—sick and sin.
