What’s Good About It?

‘Sunday’s on its way’

On the Christian calendar today is Good Friday. What’s good about it? What’s good about betrayal, suffering, death and loss? If we look at things through the eyes of Friday only, we easily forget there’s Sunday. There’s a day coming when Friday makes sense. If you have ever gone through a dark season and came out on the other side, you may understand this truth. Hope, strength, wisdom, possibility, resilience, life and a future can be birthed after ‘Friday’s’ pain. So if today is your Friday, take a leaf from the book of the One who experienced ultimate pain and rejection–only to be exalted at the end. The pain is temporary, but the reward is lasting and so worth it. I have discovered that there is indeed life and purpose in the pain.

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! [2 Corinthians 4:17]

Hello Friday
You represent my darkest moments
Blackened skies – no light in view
When pain cuts too deep to describe
You remind me of those hopeless moments
Times when nothing makes sense
My whys are louder than the voice of reason

I’ve since learned that you are not my future
You are just a season
I needed you to appreciate my Sundays
Because of days like you
I am stronger and wiser
A better me emerged from the ashes
The cross I had to bear now makes sense

I don’t resent you anymore
I get why we had to meet
My wingspan has gotten longer
Now I soar over the trivial stuff
You don’t get to define my existence
Hello Friday
Sunday is on its way

***Thanks for reading- Hope is my future, not fear. How about you?
