Imprisoned in a world without bars
I see you through lens of kindness
Eyes of grace
I too walked where you now walk
In a crowd yet lost
With a smile
And a bleeding heart
I too once yearned to run free
To have the shackles broken
Wanted the back-breaking burden
To roll away
Drank a lot of what was offered
Yet still thirsty
I too longed to silence the voice
The noise of my own confusion
Wanted to run until I reached the end
The end of a me that was caged by fears
Held captive by indescribable pain
I too have felt the desire to check out
Longing for something better than this
Weary to my bones – no fight left
Crippled by yesterday
Dismayed by today
Petrified of tomorrow
I too found my peace
A place not made with hands
At the feet of a God who saw the caged me
Who loves without condition
Whose mercy runs like a river
The only One who made it make sense
“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. ( John 8:36 NLT)
The only kind of freedom, powerful!
