What You Don’t See

Many mothers woke up this morning to lots of noise and the sweet sounds of loved ones around. Laughter, hugs, surprise breakfast, phone calls, Amazon deliveries and presents. It’s mommy’s special day and it warms the heart. While we bask in the joys of the day, many sit in pain today.

What you don’t see are the tears that wet the pillows this morning. The ache that fills the vacant spaces in her broken heart. We don’t see the sleepless nights and the weary days. There are some empty arms today where a child once laid. The loss feels unbearable and tomorrow seems meaningless. Equally true today -There’s an empty chair where momma once sat. She’s not here anymore and the pain cuts deep. Behind the smiles there’s much we don’t see.

This piece was written and shared before. It’s still true today:

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted, and he delivers those whose spirit has been crushed.

Psalm 34:18
