Yesterday while on a road trip, we stopped at a great rest area to stretch our legs and window shop. I came across these plaques in the household section in a popular store there. As they caught my eyes, I smiled. Words have so much impact on our moments. Has someone ever said something to you that changed your mood, mind or space immediately? Sometimes you wonder how they knew you needed that. People are often God’s messengers to whisper in our ears. I’d love Him to pick me as often as He chooses. Being mindful of my words has been a goal of mine as I strive for growth. Admittedly, I haven’t yet perfected the art. I’ve had to repent, bite my tongue, and apologize a time or two.
We have some amazing writers, speakers, and creatives in our spaces. What a world it would be if we pause to check what we are unleashing into the atmosphere with our words. Our words can inform, inspire, correct, uplift, explain, and encourage with as much depth as it can cut, wound and destroy. Maybe you’d like to join me on this journey – not just to speak truth but check the spirit with which it is said or written. Probably we can start with what we tell ourselves.
As we enjoy the change of the season – we move into spring and all the beauty that begins to unfold. May our words speak life to some one who may need to be reminded of their value today. Be that mindful messenger today. Give someone a chance to say, “I needed that.” While you are at it, grab a hold of the words on one of those plaques above for yourself! I don’t know which one you may need to hear. Be my guest.
‘Thoughtless words can wound as deeply as any sword, but wisely spoken words can heal.’ [Proverbs 12:18]
“I’m an adult, but
not like a real adult.”
That’s so me.😅
