I’ve Told You These Things

This past Christmas, one of my sons gave me this journal. The goal is to capture my story. I am thrilled that he has, in his own way, recognize the brevity of life. I won’t be here with them their entire lifetime. In a perfect world, I will leave them behind to navigate life without me. I pray that I’ll leave footprints worth following. May my legacy be more than what I have done – may who I am leave a fire to light their way. My desire is that this light of mine would lead them to seek out The Light of The World. To seek out His Story as He shared His Life and His love to a world that wasn’t necessary very welcoming.

Before Christ left in human form, He told His followers something that has resonated with me through my life’s journey. It has always led me back to read Christ’s take on life.

He said, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [ John 16:33 AMP]

We were never promised a rose garden without thorns. The Lord knew that even in our controlled chaos, the best of us are a mess. His words, however, provides a blueprint to follow as we strive to become overcomers. As we battle seen and unseen forces, we have been left with strategic plans to win. Heaven knows that I lost some because I chose not to follow orders. I can also shout because victory has been mine numerous times when I stuck to the battle plans.

During this season of reflection [ for many], may we diligently and intentionally pay attention to the most beautiful love story that has been recorded and left for us. It tells of a life that was lived and sacrificed with us in mind. Because of His Story, I am challenged to push through as I too can win. I have a vast army of Angels cheering me on and surrounding me. Beyond this, a promise was left in scriptures for those who choose to invite Him into their journey –

…For He has said, “I WILL NEVER [under any circumstances] DESERT YOU [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], NOR WILL I FORSAKE or LET YOU DOWN or RELAX MY HOLD ON YOU [assuredly not]!” [Hebrews 13:5 AMP]

Today I choose to embrace this legacy of love left behind for me. My prayer is that ‘those coming behind me may find me faithful. May the fire of my desire light their way. May the footprints that I leave, lead them to believe.’

****My Lenten reflection – Thanks for stopping by.
