Give One – Get One

Daily writing prompt
What’s the oldest things you’re wearing today?

‘1991 – 34 years ago’

“Nothing you wear is more important than your smile.” [Borrowed]

I have always worn my smile with much grace and charm. As far back as I can remember, life was never so bad that it could rob me of my smile. My childhood came with much laughter and smiles. I was never the moody sulky teen – a smile changes not just me but invites those around me to join in. Adulthood comes with its own troubles, but in my world there’s always a reason to smile. It has a way of rolling away the burdens – if only for a moment. Someone once reminded me- ‘If your heart is happy, please inform your face’. You give one – you get one back. It’s the universal welcome sign to invite you into my world. I invite you to wear it well – it looks good on you.

That Smile

With you
I charm the noxious ones
Soothe the most anxious
Quiet the noise of the disturbed
Water the parched
Disarm the combative
Make believers out of cynics
Melt the hardened soul
Warm the cold hearts
Cause walls to crumble
Heal the wounds that cause a frown
Reconcile the pain of the past
Invite peace in
