Dear John

‘High School Daze’

Many of us are familiar with ‘Dear John’ letters. From what I read, the term was coined somewhere during World War II. These were letters sent to servicemen from their loves, ending a relationship. A dreaded letter, as you might imagine.

Well, that’s me and my real John. That was his real name!! I won’t reveal his last name – you might know him.๐ŸคฃMy high school classmates who are reading this – please don’t send it to him.๐Ÿ˜‚ Anyway, John had a real crush on me. Yep- he fell hard! We never dated. He was brilliant and quite sweet, with a British accent. I wasn’t interested in a boyfriend or may be that boy.

I don’t know if I treated him nicely. Back then I never thought about boys’ feelings. Actually, I didn’t even think they had any. Boys didn’t hurt or had broken hearts. They never felt rejected. They were boys for heaven sake!! Honestly, I was very selfish. Of course, I now know better. A better me has emerged with life and time. Yippee!! Sorry John. And Paul, Peter, Wayne..๐Ÿ˜

Anyway, this is a light-hearted post. Just a reminder that sometimes we may need to go back before we can move forward. Acknowledging our past missteps, faux pas, or just plain horrible behaviors frees the heart. I found that these steps- ‘Repent, Renounce, Restore’ is a great progression in purifying the heart. We are warned to guard our hearts – everything in life flows from it.

Again for all the Johns and Janes I’ve ‘stepped on’ or hurt at some point- this is my sincere apology.๐Ÿ’–โค Hey! Do you have a ‘John’ or ‘Jane’ out there? Free your heart!!!
