Gift of You

Daily writing prompt
What is the greatest gift someone could give you?

I could list anything from the tangible to the divine. Most times I find what I need people can’t give it to me. So, I’ve learned to release those in my circle – gotten rid of my unhealthy expectations. I ask but one thing:

Give me the real you
Let me decide to stay or leave
No facade-no front
No pretense-no guise
Let me learn to love the real you

Not the who you pretend to be
Grant me the chance to extend grace if I must
To discover the art of forgiveness
By dabbling with the imperfect you
The flawed you may bring me to my knees in prayer
Maybe we’ll both find ourselves prostrate

When you uncover the broken splintered me

Wounded and bleeding beside you
Waiting for you to love the only me I know
Hand in hand we can find healing
Together we can turn our eyes upward
Looking to the only One
Who has always loved us
Perfection meets the imperfect you and me
In His presence we’ll find that it all begins to make sense
You and me – that work in progress
